You are not your mind, you are not your psychology, you are not even your thoughts - you are an antenna, and right now it is tuned to a particular frequency!

Don't bother trying to silence the mind. Don't bother wasting years in therapy trying to make sense of the gibberish in your head. Analyzing the mind will not help you claim your sanity or let you exist peacefully.

This is one of the fundamental distinctions between the West & the Eastern cultures. The west believes in analyzing, studying, picking things apart. The east, especially the Indian culture & spiritual disciplines or paths do not place any emphasis on analysis - instead they ask you to simply observe, without getting attached.

What is your true nature?

The Indian philosophy (Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma) says you are not your thoughts. Thoughts are just energy moving around in your nervous system. You may say that you are a human, or that you are Indian or an American. But they are thoughts as well. So, then, you may say that you are a Divine creation, but that is a thought as well.

By following the logic of Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism), you will soon come to the conclusion that you cannot really define who or what you are because every definition is a thought, and every thought is just energy in your head. And that is how Sanatana Dharma teaches us the essential truth of our existence - that we are simply a blob of energy, experiencing life in the form of matter in the physical realm.

But how does this truth help us overcoming the mundane or critical situations in our daily lives? Well, at the very least, you should become aware of the fact that your nervous system (which is divided into Chakras & nadis in our Yogic systems) is essentially an antenna - just like that of a radio. And right now, based on the current state of the antenna, it is receiving and transmitting energy - which in turn, is manifesting thoughts in your mind, and essentially your life as a result.

So, how do we tune this antenna in the right direction? That is the question which is answered by Yoga, Tantra & other forms of spiritual practices within the umbrella of the Sanatana philosophy or what is now called as Hinduism. All you need, is a little patience & the right guide to get there!

Until next time,

-Ananda
